McKinley Tennyson
Business Development Manager
McKinley Tennyson is a Business Development Manager for the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center (LA MBOC) located in the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Economic Development for the City of Los Angeles. Through strategic partnerships, Mr. Tennyson connects Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) with public and private contracting and financing opportunities including insurance and bonding.
McKinley was formerly with the Community Development Department (CDD) for the City of Los Angeles where he administered the South Los Angeles region of the Los Angeles State Enterprise Zone, Federal Empowerment Zone, and Renewal Community. In this capacity, McKinley assisted local businesses with tax incentives, financing, real estate development, and workforce training. Prior to joining the City of Los Angeles, Mr. Tennyson worked at CB Richard Ellis, a prominent commercial real estate firm, providing financial analysis and underwriting services to a range of sophisticated clients. Additionally, Mr. Tennyson spent three and half years playing professional soccer both domestically and abroad, earning a Major League Soccer Championship with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2002. McKinley continues to stay involved in the soccer community by serving as a mentor and coach for kids at Pacific Coast Soccer Club in West Los Angeles.
McKinley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA, where he was an All-American and NCAA champion with the men’s varsity soccer team. He is also an alumnus of the Riordan Fellows Program at UCLA Anderson.
Mr. Tennyson currently serves as the Vice President of Fundraising for the Riordan Fellows Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. McKinley also volunteers at The Denise Roberts Breast Cancer Foundation (TDRBCF), which is a non-profit dedicated to the research, treatment, and cure of breast cancer located in the Centinela Freeman Medical Center in Inglewood. Professional affiliations include- Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the UCLA Alumni Association.
